Possible Trouble for Obama

Author: Rory B. Bellows

Obama’s campaign has floated the idea that they can win the election without winning Ohio or Florida. While this may seem unremarkable given that many think Obama and John McCain have the potential to shakeup the electoral stalemate of the 2000 and 2004 elections, this news comes on the heels of a Rasmussen Daily Tracking Poll which had Obama up by 7 points in the poll conducted after he wrapped up the Democratic Nomination.

Is this new map floated by the Obama campaign a tell that they don’t have the confidence they can win Ohio and Florida? If they don’t think they can win Ohio, how do they think they can win a state like Michigan, which has the demographic makeup of Ohio and has been run into the ground by years of Democratic governance?
