Democrats are thrilled people may lose their homes or die

Author: Rory B. Bellows

Reveling in human misery is nothing new for the Democratic Party. They are invested in disaster. Former DNC Chairmen Don Fowler is just peachy about Hurrican Gustav and the fact that it is shaping up to be so deadly that the Republicans are going to have to alter their convention plans.

This is nothing new. Majority Whip Jim Clyburn once said that a good report from General Petraeu would be a big problem for the Democrats.

Comments like these are an unfortunate byproduct of a political race. To suggest that Fowler was “thrilled people may lose their homes or die” is more than a little over the top…. but then again, politics is comprised of each side going over the top in sequence, it seems.

Before you get too high on your horse, remember that just last December, John McBush was caught thinking aloud that the assassination of ex-Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto in Pakistan might help him politically.

I would be willing to guess that both Fowler and McBush were thinking on a completely different level, a political stratgery one, and not about the underlying human tragedy involved in these circumstances.
