For shame: New Jersey Republicans vote for nationailization of the auto industry

Author: Rory R. Bellows

New Jersey Republicans Chris Smith and Rodney Frelinghuysen joined the entire state Democratic delegation in voting for this bailout of the auto industry. This bill gives the autos a bridge loan with the expectation they will come up with a restructuring plan that the government appointed “Car Czar” and Congress will approve of. We are going to see a government appointed expert now run the auto industry in this country.

If the Republican party is going to rebuild itself there have to be 1 or 2 core principles that everyone can agree on. We can debate what they are, but one of the easy ones should be staunch opposition to government industrial policy and central planning.
